MVMCP Opening Night Review

This year I was lucky enough to be at opening night for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! It was my first time going to this event, and I think I’m going to be making it my new tradition!

You guys know this is my favorite season, and it’s something so special to celebrate the holidays in Disney. I started celebrating early this year, November 5th to be exact! I planned my trip without realizing I would be there for opening night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but as soon as I figured it out, I booked my ticket. I’m glad I did, because I knew it would be fun, but I had no idea what I was actually in for.

I will say there is so much to do at the party between entertainment, food, and event merchandise, so you for sure have to prioritize! I really wanted to see Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, so I sat on Main Street for a very long time to make sure I had a good seat! I went to the first run of the parade at 8:30 pm (11:00 pm was the last run) and snagged some starbucks and a seat and waited from 7ish. I thought I was going to go crazy just sitting however I started talking to the people around me, and they were playing some of my favorite holiday songs. I was suprised to hear “Marshmellow World” because it’s one of my top 10 Christmas time songs! The best part of waiting was watching it “snow” on Main Street, I teared up a little, I can’t lie. The weather for opening night was AWFUL, it was pouring. I later found out they cut some stuff from the parade, however it didn’t hinder me enjoying the parade or any of the party. Disney magic is something special!

The rain couldn’t get me down!

After I watched the parade which was so much fun even though I found out later due to the rain they had cut some pieces out.

Santa comin’ down Main Street!

Now it was time to enjoy the rides, I walked on almost every single ride! It was the most amazing expericence, you could tell everyone was buzzing with holiday spirit. I finally scored 999,999 on Space Ranger Spin and was on a ride high! The only rides that had waits also had special party overlays which is totally understandable! I think many people did party exclusive things and left because of the weather, I truly felt like I had Magic Kingdom to myself! The five rides with holiday overlays included Tomorrowland Speedway, Space Mountain, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, Mad Tea Party and the Jungle Cruise! I made it on to the Tea Party and the Jingle Cruise, and let me tell you I thought the Jungle Cruise couldn’t get better, but it absolutly did. Holiday dad jokes may be my favorite genre of jokes!

The “yuletide sweets” were spread out throughout the park and clearly marked with giant inflatable candy canes! They had 5 different types of cookies and handed out Enjoy Life brand to those with allergies like me! I was happy I still had options and could snack on chocolate chip cookies through the night! They also had ginger molasses, snickerdoodle, peppermint, and regular chocolate chip cookies to enjoy and snowman shaped pretzels! The drink they were handing out consisted of hot chocolate, eggnog, apple cider and fanta. They seemed to have options for everyone and that’s something super important to me considering this is an extra charge to attend and the treats are one of the main draws.

This tree tho!

I really was looking forward to Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Firework Show, however I literally got stuck on the Haunted Mansion for almost 30 minutes and missed it! Later in line for Peter Pan I overheard other guests saying it was a waste because of the rain! Time seemed to move so fast and I for sure missed alot, but I know I’ll be back!

I’m a big sucker for event merch so I had to grab a couple limited release pins! The castmember checking me out was so jolly and recommended a blind box so naturally I scooped one up. I plan on opening this on Christmas to see what I got! (Trust me the wait is killing me!)

Overall I would highly reccomend this party if you’re on the line of going or not! The wait times for the rides alone make the price completely worth it, not to mention free cookies!

Are you heading to MVMCP this year? What’s your favorite memory of this party from previous years, let me know!
